College Book Program

While many incarcerated women are able to take college courses while serving out their sentences
in prison the books and study materials they need to complete these courses and their degrees
are not covered. To help these women, an ACWIP member developed a program that
allows people on the outside to fund the purchase of college books for incarcerated
women enrolled in college courses. ACWIP plans to expand this program and
bring it to more incarcerated women throughout the State of California.
Since the major obstacle to education is the cost of books for these
women, our goal is to create a support network to bring college
books to all the women who need them to finish their
education. Eventually, we will expand this
program to include the intuition funds
for incarcerated women to obtain
four year college degrees.
